Born in New Zealand, Mr Robson attended school in Victoria before joining the Royal Australian Navy as an apprentice in 1963. He trained as a shipwright and saw service in HMAS Sydney, HMAS Melbourne and HMAS Stalwart.

No, the ceremonies are not embarrassing to candidates in any way. In fact, they have given to all members who have participated in them over the years, lasting and positive memories of a special and moving event.
